Touch is a personal meditation coach that helps individuals respond to challenges more effectively and manage stress. Research shows that restlessness, getting easily distracted, and sitting in an uncomfortable posture during meditation are common difficulties. Touch, through its sensory properties such as sight, touch, sound, taste, and smell, can help you connect with your surroundings, thoughts, and feelings. Each day, users will answer questions about their chosen meditation object. This will provide information about both internal and external environments, making it essential for sensory perception.
Our fast-paced world often leads to increased stress and tension, and a decrease in satisfaction. Unfortunately, these negative effects have become an accepted part of modern life, with many of us rushing through our days, moving quickly from one task to another, and filling every moment with as much activity as possible. This high-speed lifestyle may give the appearance of productivity and efficiency, but it can greatly impact our happiness and overall quality of life.
This project explores solutions for the problem of not working out. By using Seep's goal-setting, progress tracking, and personalized workout plan features, it aims to increase motivation and engagement.
After my initial research, I conduct a survey titled “Meditation Behavior Survey” The survey consisted of a total of 16 questions, divided into 3 different sections, as per the category users would fall under. The Categories - users who have practiced meditation before, and a user who does not interested in practicing meditation, especially with apps. This survey gathered a total of 40 responses from people falling under the age of 18 to 65 years old. Following are the survey questions and responses. The question includes having practiced meditation before, Mental health, and Daily life mental struggles. For more information, please check this link: fvsbfdgdn
This survey helped me gain a clear understanding of my users and their main frustrations and goals. I derived the percentage of users who are not interested in a meditation and self-care app and precisely what they would expect of it. This survey allowed the users to not only select their preference from the given option but also let them speak their own words. I was able to derive the tasks users wanted Touch to accomplish. This survey set a base for my next steps in the design process of Touch.
After personally using and observing the above apps, I identified the major challenges. After this analysis, I also read through many Google reviews to realize that the most common problems:
Amir is a postgraduate researcher at Imperial College London. He finds it hard to focus on one task and is always worried about how he will balance work and studies. Amir is unsatisfied with his everyday routine and wants to focus more on his mental and physical health. He tried to join an online meditation course to help with his stress, but he couldn't keep up with the fixed times due to fluctuating working hours. His only escape from his busy life is listening to music. Amir wants to focus on and enjoy the present moment.
Sara has been a manager at a tech company for five years. With time, her roles and responsibilities have only grown bigger. She started meditation a year ago when her friend introduced her to it, but she struggled to be consistent due to her busy lifestyle. She is facing health issues due to being overworked and wants to change his routine to prioritize her health over everything else. Sara wants to be able to meditate regularly and also wants to keep track of her journey. She is passionate about her job but feels like her career is too draining and overwhelming sometimes.
I created a user journey map for Sara based on her typical working day: she woke up at 7:30 am with bad sleeping quality and on this day she planned to attend a meditation class after work. But when she finally left the office it was too late for the class and on her way home she decided to download an App to get started. Before going to bed she landed on the App but found out lost it and wasn’t sure where and how to start meditation so she deleted it.
Touch is designed to make it easy for users to find and access what they are looking for instead of overwhelming them with a lot of content. The app would ask some basic questions about an object and its current state of mind to help them make a relationship between their feeling and sensory properties.
Color is a computation that our brains make that enables us to extract meaning from the world. I knew from picture research that blue would be the major colour in my palette.
